Threshold
Children

Threshold childrens class is a Taekwon-Do class designed especially for children. The focus of the programme is to develop physical and mental competence, leadership potential and moral values.
Threshold instructors create a learning environment based on both discipline and fun.
"Our focus is to help students develop confidence and
inner strength." "My personal philosophy is one of
mutual respect between student and instructor. There are rules
to be adhered to but at the same time we allow room for students
to accept their own challenges, expand possibilities and develop
their character." Hayden Breese, Instructor.

Attending for the first time
Threshold classes are designed to help kids try martial
arts in a safe, friendly and fun environment. After attending
their first class casual students choose a class to
attend every week. After about one month kids may be invited
to join the school as a member. Existing threshold members
may attend one or more of these classes at a reduced rate or
for free if invited as an assistant.
Joining the School
Joining Threshold Taekwon-Do as a member is suitable for those students who want to make
a commitment to learn Taekwon-Do. Classes consist of more experienced
students from white belt level through to more senior ranked
students.

Gradings
Threshold children participate in a grading system specically designed for children. Gradings are held by the instructor at various points throughout the year.
Intermediate class students progress through an internationally
recognized grading system, the learning progress and development
through this system varies from child to child. There are
three grading's per year and most children will participate
in one or more grading's. ITFNZ grading's are conducted
by an independent examiner and the qualification is recognized
throughout New Zealand and the world. Threshold also offers gradings as intermediate steps between ITFNZ gradings. These are conducted by the Head Instructor.
The
First Classes
The trial of the kids class started
on Friday the 25th August 2005. In attendance were five new
students who participated in balance and strength exercises,
focus and discipline techniques, learning basic kicks and leadership
training.
